About Me.
I did not always want to be a Dietitian, in fact the first time it was recommended to me I looked my mother in the eye and said "that sounds really boring." Six months later I was unpacking in Kentucky to start my Undergrad Dietetics program.

Prior to all this, my journey actually started with getting sick right before the early start for track season in middle school. I thought it was the flu for a week until I passed out and was promptly taken to the ER. My hemoglobin was 8, which is very low. After a few days into a hospital admission I got sent home, then next day I passed out again, back in the ER with a hemoglobin of 2 this time, that's moments away from death. After 2 months in the hospital, 11 blood transfusions, antibody treatments, MASSIVE amounts of steroids (no, not the get jacked kind), and a 55 lb weight gain with muscle loss, I was finally on the road to losing the weight I gained and getting back to my young teen life.
What has been hard is dealing with the after effects of what was called an autoimmune disorder, still not sure about that part. The only solace I found was through nutrition. My energy, especially would eb and flow. I got to the point I almost failed a college course due to not being able to stay awake even though it was an easy entry level course because it was at 8 AM. I found, on multiple occasions, I could not drive home after a lunch date with my best friend without taking a nap first, yikes. No one could tell me why this was happening so I looked at what I was eating, got my hands on a hollistic nutrition book that changed my life.

Fast forward back to the conversation with my mom about being a Dietitian. I was currently in nursing school to be a nurse anesthetist but was having some doubts at how much I would actually enjoy that type of position. I did some thinking and changed over to nutrition at my next semester to dive into something I knew I was already passionate about.

I've always been active, now as an adult I realize I'm ate up with ADHD, as is my entire family. I've tried everything including swim team, track and field, volleyball, Muay Thai, and Krav Maga, but my most favorite hobbies have always been riding horses and weight training. The rush that comes with feeling powerful as you push weight around in the gym is one of my favorites.

I have had countless blessings to bring me to this stage in life, and I am so excited to get to cross paths with you!
What to Expect Working with Jessica...

Encouragement
A goal that is worth reaching will not be easy to come by. There will be days that you want to give up, whether it's the fitness routine or finding time to throw together a quick meal when your tired. Encouragement and fostering the confidence I know you have to keep reaching towards the life you have imagined for yourself is only part of working together!

I've had so many clients mention they almost cancelled our appointment, or felt like I was going to yell at them, or be disappointment in them. By the end of the appointment they felt rejuvenated and ready to rock on their goals for the next week. My job is not to be hard on you, my job is to guide you on the path you paved out. Uplifting each other will always be the most powerful!
Evidence Based for Success!
There is an overwhelming amount of information out there about nutrition, fitness, weight loss, supplements, and so much more. It's maddening to spend hours looking up information to only end up feeling more lost and confused than when you started. As an RD, I only practice recommendations that are evidence-based! Okay, cool, but what does that really mean? Evidence-based science is making decisions that have been studied extensively and are without bias. The recommendations are a result, typically from numorous different studies or methods, often reviewed by other professionals within the same or similar area of professionalism. It is my job to review these studies or articles and leave no stone un-turned, they must be picked apart to account for the parts of the study that were not controlled, all with biology, chemistry, and physiology "goggles" I have as an RD.

I ONLY want the best for you. I will not settle or encouraged unnecessary restriction, self-control, and fear mongering around food. Food is, in my opinion, one of the most amazing parts of our physical beings and is a miraculous science.
